Eco Marine Power Begins Evaluation Trials of Aquarius Marine Solar Power System
Eco Marine Power Co., Ltd. has announced the commencement of evaluation trials for its updated solar power system, known as Aquarius Marine Solar Power. These trials will also include testing the first of several photovoltaic (PV) module technologies.
The trials are expected to last between 12 to 18 months, with the primary goal of showcasing the practicality and performance of the updated solar power system in real maritime conditions. This initiative aligns with the shipping industry’s commitment to transitioning to greener operations and enhancing sustainability.
Introducing Merlin Solar Technologies Inc.
The first solar module technology being evaluated is from Merlin Solar Technologies Inc. Known for their durable and reliable performance, Merlin Solar panels are designed to withstand challenging and sub-optimal conditions, ensuring long-lasting power generation. These panels feature the performance and reliability of mono-crystalline silicon technology while offering the flexibility and lightweight benefits that enable easy deployment.
The installation of the solar panels was carried out by Aries Marine, utilizing specially designed frames that were previously installed on the ship. Over the coming months, additional equipment will be installed, including various PV module technologies sourced from different manufacturers.
By conducting these evaluation trials, Eco Marine Power aims to demonstrate the viability of solar power systems in the maritime industry and showcase the benefits of utilizing renewable energy sources for sustainable shipping operations.
