Prysmian Awards Next Geosolutions Contracts for Offshore Wind Projects
Prysmian has recently awarded two contracts to Next Geosolutions (NextGeo), marking significant progress in the offshore wind industry. The contracts, valued at around €20 million, encompass projects in the Dutch offshore wind market and the Bay of Biscay interconnection project.
Dutch Offshore Wind Market Contract
NextGeo will conduct export cable route surveys for the IJmuiden Ver Alpha and Nederwiek 1 offshore wind sites in the Dutch offshore wind market. The surveys will cover both offshore and nearshore areas to support the installation of export cables connecting the future offshore wind farms to the grid on land. This project is scheduled to take place between 2026 and 2027.
Bay of Biscay Interconnection Project
NextGeo’s second contract with Prysmian involves the Bay of Biscay interconnection project, which will link coastal areas of Spain and France with an HVDC cable system. NextGeo will undertake route preparation activities, including boulder removal, pre-lay grapnel run, installation of protective mattresses, and a pre-lay survey, between 2025 and 2027.
These contracts highlight the growing importance of offshore wind energy and the crucial role that companies like NextGeo play in supporting the development of sustainable energy solutions.
Collaboration with TenneT
NextGeo’s involvement in the Dutch offshore wind market aligns with TenneT’s efforts to expand renewable energy infrastructure. Prysmian’s partnership with NextGeo underscores a commitment to delivering high-quality services for offshore wind projects in Europe.
Overall, these contracts represent a significant step forward in the transition to clean energy and the development of offshore wind farms in key European markets.
Stay tuned for updates on these projects as NextGeo and Prysmian work together to advance offshore wind energy initiatives.
