Eco Wave Power Completes Installation of U.S. Pilot Project at Port of Los Angeles

Eco Wave Power Global has successfully installed its U.S. pilot project at the Port of Los Angeles, marking a significant milestone for the company’s wave energy technology.

The installation is now undergoing operational testing, with an official unveiling ceremony scheduled for September 9, 2025, at AltaSea at the Port of Los Angeles.

Wave Energy Technology

Eco Wave Power’s innovative wave energy system utilizes floaters attached to existing marine structures. The movement of waves causes hydraulic cylinders to generate fluid, which is then transferred to a land-based energy conversion unit to produce electricity.

Key advantages of this technology include minimal environmental impact due to no footprint on the seabed and a modular, low-maintenance design suitable for port and coastal environments.

Project Objectives

The Los Angeles project serves as a non-grid-connected demonstration station to achieve several goals:

  • Demonstrate the effectiveness of Eco Wave Power’s patented technology in real U.S. marine conditions
  • Facilitate environmental monitoring and regulatory processes in collaboration with local stakeholders and authorities
  • Provide a learning hub for officials, industry partners, and potential customers
  • Lay the groundwork for future commercial, grid-connected projects in the U.S.

Expansion and Collaboration

While the U.S. project focuses on validation through demonstration measurements, Eco Wave Power continues to rely on its grid-connected site in Israel for real-world energy production. Additionally, operational projects in Taiwan, India, and Portugal are underway to further expand the company’s data collection and performance validation across diverse marine conditions.

The successful implementation of the U.S. pilot project was made possible through partnerships with California-based companies, including All-Ways Metal and C&S Welding Inc., showcasing a commitment to local collaboration and innovation.

Future Prospects

The pilot project at the Port of Los Angeles represents a crucial step in Eco Wave Power’s U.S. commercialization strategy and strengthens the company’s global project pipeline, which currently stands at 404.7MW.
