Oceaneering International Secures Grant for Subsea Power Cable Project

U.S. subsea engineering and applied technology firm Oceaneering International has been awarded a £400,000 grant from Scotland’s economic development agency Scottish Enterprise. The grant aims to support a project to enhance manufacturing capacity for subsea power cables intended for Scottish offshore wind projects.

Oceaneering operates the Rosyth umbilical and cable manufacturing facility at the Port of Rosyth since 1999, supplying subsea communication, power, and hydraulic umbilicals to offshore oil & gas facilities.

The funding from Scottish Enterprise will specifically support Oceaneering’s floating offshore wind dynamic cable qualification projects.

The initial phase of the project will utilize existing manufacturing equipment for research and development. Upon completion of the product design and certification, Oceaneering plans to invest in new equipment to expand project capacity.

The project is expected to create senior research and development roles at the site, contributing to a total investment of £1.6 million.
