Military Sealift Command (MSC) Offering New Able Seaman Positions

Military Sealift Command (MSC) is now offering two Able Seaman (AB) positions: Able Seaman Watch and Able Seaman Maintenance. By separating AB into two positions, you can select the role that is the right fit for your credentials.

The AB Watch position requires the AB Special credential or higher and the STCW – ASD endorsement. If you only have your AB Special or higher credential, you can apply for the Able Seaman Maintenance position. Joining as an AB Maintenance allows you to gain the on-the-job experience needed to qualify for your ASD endorsement.

Both positions come with the opportunity to receive a sign-on bonus:

  • Able Seaman Watch: $46,442 Sign-On Bonus Available
  • Able Seaman Maintenance: $44,345 Sign-On Bonus Available

Whether you are an experienced AB or a mariner interested in a new role, MSC provides a great opportunity to advance your career. With hiring bonuses available and improved standards for time off, now is the perfect time to join MSC and take command of your career.

Why Choose MSC?

  • Sign-on Bonuses offered for many positions
  • 4 and 2 rotation allows for more time at home
  • Steady Employment with federal job security
  • World Travel opportunities
  • Excellent Pay & Benefits, including health insurance and retirement plans

As the U.S. Navy’s premier maritime logistics force, MSC plays a crucial role in delivering supplies, fuel, and equipment to support military operations worldwide. By joining MSC, you will contribute to keeping the fleet mission-ready while enjoying competitive pay, federal benefits, and a generous sign-on bonus to kickstart your journey.
