Hanwha Ocean Secures Approval for State-of-the-Art FPSO Design

Shipbuilder Hanwha Ocean has recently achieved a significant milestone by obtaining Approval in Principle (AiP) from leading certification body Bureau Veritas for its cutting-edge Floating Production Storage and Offloading Unit (FPSO) design. This standard FPSO design incorporates the latest advancements in advanced digital solutions to enhance operational efficiency and sustainability.

Key Features of Hanwha Ocean’s FPSO Design

The standard FPSO design by Hanwha Ocean boasts impressive specifications, measuring 340 meters in length and 62 meters in width. It has a crude oil storage capacity of 2.38 million barrels and a production capacity of 190,000 barrels per day. The FPSO is equipped to accommodate topsides weighing up to 55,000 tons and covering 17,600 square meters.

One of the standout features of this FPSO design is its hull, designed to operate for up to 20 years without the need for dry docking. Additionally, the FPSO incorporates cutting-edge technologies such as zero-flaring, GHG monitoring, and an energy management system to ensure compliance with stringent environmental regulations.

Advanced Digital Solutions for Enhanced Operations

Hanwha Ocean’s FPSO design also integrates advanced digital solutions to optimize performance and efficiency. These solutions include cybersecurity measures, digital twin technology, and predictive maintenance capabilities, leveraging the latest tools and methodologies to drive innovation and operational excellence.

Hanwha Ocean’s Evolution into EPCIO Solution Provider

With this groundbreaking FPSO design, Hanwha Ocean solidifies its position as a leading Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Installation, and Operation (EPCIO) solution provider in the offshore industry. The company offers a diverse range of products, including FPSOs, floating liquified natural gas (FLNG) units, Offshore Renewables, and other floating production platforms.
