Seaway7 Secures Contract for Inch Cape Offshore Wind Farm Installation

Seaway7, a subsidiary of Subsea7 Group, has recently announced the acquisition of a significant contract for the transport and installation of pin-pile jacket foundations and transition pieces for the Inch Cape offshore wind farm in Scotland. This contract, valued between $150 million and $300 million, was awarded by Cape Offshore Limited, a joint venture between ESB and Red Rock Renewables.

The Inch Cape offshore wind farm, with a capacity of 1.1 GW, is situated in the Scottish North Sea, approximately 15 kilometers off the coast of Angus. Comprising 72 wind turbine generators, the project will feature Vestas V236-15.0 MW turbines, each rated at 15 MW.

Seaway7’s scope of work includes the transportation and installation of 18 pin-pile jacket foundations and 54 transition pieces, with offshore activities anticipated to commence in 2026. Lloyd Duthie, Seaway7’s VP for the UK & Asia, expressed enthusiasm for the project, stating, “We are looking forward to supporting ESB and Red Rock on the Inch Cape project and at the same time making a contribution to the UK’s energy security and emissions reduction targets.”

John Hill, Project Director of Inch Cape, also expressed his satisfaction with Seaway7’s involvement, stating, “I am extremely pleased to have such an experienced party as Seaway7 sign with the project and take responsibility for the installation of our jacket foundations and transition pieces.”

The Inch Cape wind farm is projected to be fully operational by 2027, with SSE Energy Markets agreeing to offtake 50% of the electricity output for a minimum of 15 years. This collaboration is expected to play a significant role in advancing the UK’s renewable energy goals and reducing carbon emissions.
