Brunvoll Secures Thruster Package Contract with Myklebust Shipyard

Brunvoll has recently announced another significant contract with Myklebust Shipyard for the delivery of a comprehensive thruster package for an additional vessel for REM Offshore. This contract, which includes an option for a third vessel, builds upon the success of a previous agreement announced in May 2024.

The thruster package provided by Brunvoll comprises two propulsion azimuth thrusters, two retractable azimuth thrusters, and a tunnel thruster. While the configuration is similar to the previous vessel, this new vessel, named MS REM Ocean, will feature a slightly larger tunnel thruster. Additionally, Brunvoll’s Condition Monitoring system, BruCon CMS, will be incorporated into the thruster package to enhance operational efficiency and decision support.

Designed by Skipsteknisk on the same platform as the previous vessel, ST-245, MS REM Ocean is tailored for Inspection, Maintenance, and Repair (IMR) operations within the offshore energy industry. Upon completion, the vessel will be deployed on a long-term contract with DeepOcean to provide subsea IMR services for Equinor.

Speaking about the energy efficiency enhancements implemented in these vessels, Kristian Stavset, Head of Projects at REM Offshore AS, stated, “For propulsion, we selected two retractable azimuth thrusters to improve station-keeping efficiency. Additionally, we installed a larger tunnel thruster specifically for this vessel to reduce noise and vibration, ensuring greater comfort and welfare for the crew onboard.”

This latest contract between Brunvoll and Myklebust Shipyard underscores the ongoing collaboration between these industry leaders and highlights the commitment to delivering high-quality propulsion solutions for the maritime sector. As the maritime industry continues to evolve, partnerships like these play a crucial role in driving innovation and efficiency in vessel operations.
