CIP (Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners) is a key player in the renewables sector, with a focus on clean ammonia development for shipping. Recently, CIP’s Energy Transition Fund signed MOUs with shipping companies to advance ammonia-fueled carriers for safe and efficient transport of clean ammonia.
One of the partnerships is with Færder Tankers from Norway to develop a 50,000 cubic meter ammonia carrier with advanced features for bunkering and maneuverability. The vessel is set to join the fleet by the second half of 2028, supporting ETF’s clean ammonia projects.

Additionally, ETF partnered with BW Epic Kosan to develop handy-sized ammonia carriers with dual-fuel engines. BW Epic Kosan will charter dual-fuel ammonia gas carriers to ETF, ranging from 9,000 to 35,000 cubic meters, enhancing clean ammonia transportation.
CIP is also in talks with major shipping operators to develop very large ammonia carriers for large-scale projects. These initiatives underline ETF’s commitment to green transportation of clean ammonia, meeting the demand for dual-fuel VLACs. Ifchor Galbraiths has been chosen as the mandated brokers for these projects.
Niels H. Lindegaard, senior business advisor at CIP, stated, “Our goal is to facilitate green transportation of clean ammonia by utilizing it as fuel. Partnering with innovative shipping companies like BW Epic Kosan and Færder Tankers is crucial for leading in clean ammonia solutions.”
