Serica Energy Progresses with Phased Restart of Oil and Gas Production in North Sea

UK-based upstream oil and gas player Serica Energy is making strides towards restarting oil and gas production from fields connected to an FPSO vessel in the North Sea. Following a temporary suspension of production at the FPSO Triton in October 2024 due to gas export compression issues, production has now resumed.

The FPSO operator, Dana Petroleum, conducted necessary repairs, allowing for a phased restart of production from existing and new wells. With gas exports resuming on December 29, Serica is optimistic about increasing production rates in the coming months.

Enhancing Production Reliability

Despite facing some challenges, Serica managed to maintain an average production of 34,600 boepd in 2024. As of January 5, 2025, the company’s net production has reached 46,400 boepd, with expectations to further increase as all wells are brought online.

The ongoing drilling campaign in the Triton area, involving eight producing oil fields, aims to boost production via the FPSO Triton. With the completion of drilling and completion operations on the Guillemot North West field, Serica is gearing up for the commencement of production on the new EC1 well in Q1 2025.

Looking Ahead

Chris Cox, CEO of Serica, expressed confidence in the company’s ability to address operational vulnerabilities and improve future performance. As operations continue to ramp up, Serica anticipates enhanced production and more resilient operations in the near future.

With plans to drill high-impact wells on the Evelyn field and the Belinda development, Serica is poised for further growth and expansion in the North Sea region. The acquisition of Parkmead signifies the company’s commitment to expanding its portfolio and solidifying its presence in the industry.

Overall, Serica Energy’s phased restart of oil and gas production in the North Sea marks a significant milestone for the company as it navigates through operational challenges and sets the stage for future growth and success.
