Next Geosolutions Awarded $27.8 Million Contract for UXO Survey in Dutch Coast

Marine geosciences and offshore construction support services firm Next Geosolutions has secured a $27.8 million contract from TenneT to conduct an unexploded ordnances (UXO) survey of the Dutch coast in support of the development of offshore wind farms.

The scope of the contract includes the execution of a marine UXO survey to identify and locate magnetic anomalies potentially associated with unexploded ordnance. These ordnances could pose obstacles to the installation of new offshore infrastructure in the Doordewind offshore wind area.

In addition to the survey in the Doordewind area, Next Geosolutions will also be conducting UXO survey activities in the Nederwiek offshore wind area. The company previously carried out similar activities in this area in 2024.

Operations in the Nederwiek area are set to commence in the first quarter of 2025 and will continue throughout the year. The UXO survey in the Doordewind area is scheduled to take place between the first and fourth quarter of 2026.

This new project further solidifies NextGeo’s presence in the Dutch offshore energy sector, allowing the company to operate in nearly all designated areas for the development of the offshore electrical grid, making it one of the most advanced in Europe.

Giovanni Ranieri, CEO of NextGeo, expressed gratitude to TenneT TSO for their continued trust in the company. He highlighted the significance of this new contract in showcasing NextGeo’s capabilities in providing comprehensive survey services essential for the design and engineering of new energy infrastructure.
