TotalEnergies EP Danmark Pushes Plateau Production Deadline for Tyra Redevelopment Project
TotalEnergies EP Danmark, a subsidiary of France’s energy giant TotalEnergies, has announced a revision to its plateau production timeline for the Tyra redevelopment project in the Danish sector of the North Sea. The company, in collaboration with partners BlueNord and Nordsøfonden, has been working diligently to ensure all fields are operating at full capacity.
Originally scheduled for production in December 2024, the company faced delays due to weather issues, pushing the production start date to January 21, 2025. However, recent updates indicate a further adjustment to the timeline, with the plateau production now expected to be achieved by January 31, 2025.
As the operator of the Danish Underground Consortium, TotalEnergies is navigating challenges related to commissioning and ramp-up activities at Tyra II. Despite weather conditions and operational occurrences impacting the ramp-up period, the company remains committed to reaching full technical capacity.
One of the current obstacles includes the replacement of a seal on a gas compressor by TotalEnergies’ partner, BlueNord. Once this work is completed, Tyra II is expected to operate at its maximum capacity, contributing significantly to Denmark’s natural gas production.
The journey towards full production capacity began in March 2024, with the first gas export from Tyra II marking a significant milestone. However, challenges with transformers supplying power to gas compressors slowed progress, leading to delays in achieving full technical capacity.
Despite setbacks, TotalEnergies remains optimistic about the project’s potential impact on Denmark’s energy landscape. Once the production plateau is reached, the company anticipates contributing approximately 6% of the European Union’s natural gas production, positioning Denmark as a net gas exporter.
In addition to the Tyra redevelopment project, TotalEnergies has been actively pursuing other energy ventures. Recent drilling activities in the Harald East area resulted in the discovery of additional gas condensate resources in the Harald field, further expanding the company’s presence in the North Sea region.
With ongoing projects in Europe and beyond, TotalEnergies continues to demonstrate its commitment to sustainable energy development. From the North Sea to Suriname, the company’s diverse portfolio highlights its dedication to innovation and growth in the energy sector.
