EQUANS and INOCEL Partner to Develop Carbon-Free Hydrogen Energy Solutions

EQUANS, an energy services provider, and INOCEL, a company specializing in hydrogen fuel cell technology, have joined forces to create innovative energy storage and production solutions using carbon-free hydrogen.

The collaboration between EQUANS and INOCEL aims to deliver a turnkey, high-performance, environmentally-friendly energy generation solution for various applications, including:

  • Electrification of docks to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in ports, especially for ships.
  • Decarbonized powertrain and electricity generation for maritime vessels.
  • Storage of intermittent renewable energies in hydrogen form for on-demand use.
  • Load shedding and power grid balancing.
  • Emergency power generation for industrial and commercial infrastructures like data centers, hospitals, and banks.
  • Mobile generators for off-grid sites, replacing diesel generators and batteries.

The energy storage and generation solutions offered by the partners will range from 300 kW to several MW. INOCEL will provide the fuel cell technology, while EQUANS will handle the containerization aspect. For customers seeking a complete hydrogen solution encompassing production, storage, and power generation, the partners will combine their expertise and networks to deliver comprehensive solutions.

Jérôme Stubler, CEO of EQUANS, emphasized the importance of hydrogen in the energy transition, stating, “Hydrogen must play a key role in the energy transition, and we see immense potential in its development to decarbonize industry and mobility. With INOCEL, we are providing an innovative, high-performance solution to support this strategic development.”

Jules Billiet, CEO of INOCEL, echoed Stubler’s sentiments, saying, “This strategic partnership illustrates our commitment to deploying innovative turnkey solutions integrating the entire hydrogen value chain. The collaboration between INOCEL and EQUANS enables us to offer our customers energy storage and generation solutions that combine performance, cost-competitiveness, and decarbonization of activities.”
