Cobham Satcom Releases Software Update for SAILOR 7222 VHF DSC Class A Radio

Cobham Satcom, a global leader in maritime safety and satellite communication technology, has announced a significant software update for its flagship SAILOR 7222 VHF DSC Class A radio. This update introduces new features to enhance safety and simplify operation while exceeding the IMO’s Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS) standards.

Available through Cobham Satcom’s authorized global partner network, the free software update brings improvements to overall functionality and reliability. The update enhances the innovative SAILOR Replay feature, which records and replays up to the previous 480 seconds of received communications, reducing the risk of misinterpretation during critical operations.

The update also enables built-in power supply monitoring, providing real-time awareness of power status and battery charge levels to ensure uninterrupted safety communications. Additionally, a Digital Selective Calling (DSC) printing function has been added to facilitate compliance with record-keeping requirements by allowing easy printing of DSC messages.

“The SAILOR 7222 VHF GMDSS radio is trusted by mariners worldwide for its ruggedness and ease of use,” said Niels Peter Agdal, Product Management at Cobham Satcom. “This update further strengthens our flagship radio as the ideal solution for meeting GMDSS requirements and enhancing safety and daily onboard operations.”

Key Features of the SAILOR 7222 VHF GMDSS Radio:

  • 5.5-inch TFT touch-screen interface
  • Intuitive controls
  • Compatibility with existing SAILOR 6222 VHF GMDSS installations and accessories
  • Advanced networking capabilities for reduced service and maintenance burdens

Cobham Satcom’s SAILOR radios are renowned for reliability, durability, and user-focused innovation. With over 70 years of experience in manufacturing maritime radios, Cobham Satcom remains committed to enhancing safety at sea by developing innovative communication tools for the maritime industry.
