Norway-based energy data and intelligence company TGS has secured a contract for offshore wind site characterization on the UK continental shelf for a repeat client. The project is set to last around 60 days and will begin in the first quarter of 2025.

The survey will utilize the Ramform Vanguard seismic vessel equipped with ultra-high-resolution 3D (UHR-3D) streamer technology. This system captures seismic wavefield data at high spatial and temporal resolution, providing detailed imaging of shallow subsurface targets for wind farm development.

CEO of TGS, Kristian Johansen, expressed pleasure in securing more offshore wind site characterization contracts and highlighted the importance of UHR-3D acquisition in providing clients with better seismic data for informed decision-making in wind farm developments.

In other news, TGS recently launched advanced imaging centers in collaboration with Brazilian state-owned energy giant Petrobras to enhance subsurface data interpretation for offshore basins in Brazil.
