TGS Secures Offshore Wind Site Characterization Contract in UK

Norwegian seismic specialist TGS has recently announced the acquisition of an offshore wind site characterization contract on the U.K. continental shelf for a repeat customer. The contract, with a duration of approximately 60 days, is set to kick off in the first quarter of 2025. Although the client’s identity remains confidential, TGS is thrilled to continue its partnership in this venture.

The company will deploy its state-of-the-art vessel, the Ramform Vanguard, for this project. Equipped with Ultra-high-resolution 3D (UHR-3D) streamers, the vessel ensures top-notch data collection capabilities for offshore wind site assessments.

Utilizing UHR-3D streamer technology allows TGS to capture seismic data with exceptional spatial and temporal resolution. This results in detailed insights into shallow subsurface structures crucial for wind farm development projects.

TGS CEO, Kristian Johansen, expressed his satisfaction with securing another offshore wind site characterization contract. He emphasized the significance of UHR-3D acquisition in enhancing the quality of seismic data, enabling clients to make informed decisions for their wind farm developments.

With this latest contract, TGS continues to solidify its presence in the offshore wind sector, showcasing its expertise in delivering high-quality data solutions for renewable energy projects.
