Tele-Fonika Kable to Build Specialized Cable Laying Vessels for Offshore Wind Farms
Poland’s Tele-Fonika Kable and the Industrial Development Agency (ARP) have announced plans to construct specialized cable laying vessels (CLVs) for the installation and maintenance of offshore wind farm subsea cables. This initiative aims to enhance Poland’s position in the offshore wind industry.
The collaboration between Tele-Fonika Kable and ARP includes the development of support vessels to facilitate servicing and operational activities in the Baltic Sea and other regions like the North Sea. The project will prioritize the utilization of local resources and expertise, promoting Polish shipyards and businesses in the global supply chain.
According to the companies, a special purpose vehicle will oversee the construction of installation and service vessels, ensuring the efficient implementation of the project. This strategic investment aligns with Poland’s goal of expanding its offshore wind supply chain to become a key player in the Baltic Sea region.
Poland has set ambitious targets for offshore wind energy, aiming to achieve 5.9 GW of offshore wind capacity by 2030 through the development of multiple offshore wind farms. The Baltic Power project, scheduled for commissioning in 2026, represents a significant milestone as Poland’s first offshore wind farm.
