Exploring Offshore Wind Sites: TGS Secures Another Contract in the UK

Norwegian seismic specialist TGS continues to make waves in the offshore wind industry, with the recent announcement of securing another site characterization contract on the U.K. continental shelf. This marks the second contract secured by TGS since the beginning of 2025, highlighting the company’s expertise and reputation in the renewable energy sector.

The contract, with a duration of approximately 30 days, will see the Ramform Vanguard mobilizing for the project in the second quarter of 2025. This state-of-the-art vessel is equipped with advanced technology to conduct comprehensive surveys and gather crucial data for offshore wind site characterization.

Earlier in January, TGS had announced another wind characterization contract offshore the U.K. for a repeat customer. While specific details of the project were not disclosed, the company stated that work is scheduled to commence in the first quarter of 2025. This continued influx of contracts underscores TGS’s position as a trusted partner for offshore wind developers.

CEO of TGS, Kristian Johansen, expressed his satisfaction with securing more offshore wind site characterization contracts, stating, “Our geophysical approach for mapping the shallow subsurface layers with an ultra-high resolution 3D streamer is significantly more efficient than conventional site survey solutions. Energy companies value the shorter lead time we can offer to access high-quality data.”

With a commitment to innovation and efficiency, TGS is at the forefront of providing essential data and insights for the development of offshore wind projects. As the demand for renewable energy continues to grow, companies like TGS play a vital role in supporting the transition to a more sustainable future.
