The Norwegian Offshore Directorate Grants Vår Energi Drilling Permit for North Sea Well

The Norwegian Offshore Directorate (NOD) has granted a drilling permit to Norwegian oil & gas player Vår Energi for another wildcat well in the North Sea.

The permit is for wellbore 7/1-4 S in production license 1090, in which Vår Energi holds a 50% operating stake, with partners Petoro and Aker BP each holding 20% stakes, and Equinor a 10% stake.

The well will be drilled this month using COSL’s COSLPioneer semi-submersible drilling rig.

Designed to operate in water depths up to 750 meters, the 2010-built rig features station keeping maintained by an eight-line mooring system or dynamic position mode maintained by six fixed-pitch, variable-speed thrusters (DP3).

Vår Energi earlier this month secured a drilling permit from NOD for the wellbore 7/1-3 in production license 1090 also using the COSLPioneer.
