OPT Secures $2 Million Order for Next-Gen PowerBuoy in Latin America

Marine power, data, and service solutions company Ocean Power Technologies (OPT) has recently announced a significant milestone with a $2 million order for its innovative wave, solar, and wind power generation PowerBuoy from a customer in Latin America.

The next-generation PowerBuoy, specifically designed for long-duration deployments in various water depths ranging from coastal to deep ocean waters, offers support for payloads both above and below the surface. Additionally, these systems can be equipped with a variety of communication solutions to meet specific customer needs.

Philipp Stratmann, President and CEO of OPT, expressed his excitement about expanding their presence in Latin America with this latest order. He stated, “We are thrilled to add PowerBuoys to our offering in Latin America. This order builds on the growth of our WAM-V solutions in the region, and we believe that integrating PowerBuoys will enable our customers to enhance their capabilities for permanent monitoring and marine intelligence solutions.”

With the continuous development and advancement of marine technology, OPT remains at the forefront of providing innovative solutions for sustainable power generation and data services in the maritime industry. The company’s commitment to delivering reliable and efficient products underscores its dedication to meeting the evolving needs of customers worldwide.

As OPT continues to expand its reach and capabilities, the deployment of PowerBuoys in Latin America represents a significant step towards enhancing marine operations and promoting environmental sustainability in the region.
