Palfinger Marine Wins Contract with Finnish Meyer Turku Shipyard for Royal Caribbean’s Fourth Icon Class Ship
Palfinger Marine has secured a contract with the Finnish Meyer Turku shipyard to provide lifesaving appliances (LSA) for Royal Caribbean International’s fourth Icon Class ship, scheduled to launch in 2027.
The fourth Icon Class vessel, being constructed at the Finnish Meyer Turku shipyard, will be equipped with a comprehensive suite of state-of-the-art LSA. This includes 18 lifeboats, featuring one of the largest totally enclosed lifeboats available in the market, each capable of accommodating up to 450 passengers. In addition, 18 hydraulic pivoting davits will ensure the safe and efficient deployment of the lifeboats. Palfinger Marine will also deliver two fast rescue boat A-frame davits for swift emergency response, along with two fast rescue boats designed for speed and maneuverability. The project timeline calls for the delivery of the davits between 2025 and 2026, followed by the boats in 2026 and 2027.
