Dutch Surveyor Fugro Acquires German Firm EOMAP

Dutch surveyor Fugro has recently announced the acquisition of German firm EOMAP, a leading company in using satellite earth observation for mapping and monitoring marine and freshwater environments.

EOMAP, with a history dating back to 2006, has been at the forefront of utilizing advanced technology for environmental monitoring. The company reported a revenue of approximately €5 million ($5.2 million) for the year 2024.

With the increasing emphasis on environmental regulations and the critical role of marine ecosystems in maintaining the planet’s health, the market for earth observation solutions is experiencing significant growth.

Collaborating on various climate adaptation and nature conservation projects over the years, EOMAP has been a key partner for Fugro. One notable project includes the ISPRA Seagrass Coastal Restoration initiative, where Fugro is engaged in mapping the entire coastline of Italy.

Furthermore, the two companies joined forces in the COASTS project, aimed at advancing the integration of data and modeling of coastal processes and blue carbon ecosystems. The project includes pilot studies in Europe and the Maldives.

“This acquisition marks a significant advancement for us in the water market, enhancing our capabilities to provide our clients with cutting-edge satellite EO technology,” stated Robert Hoddenbach, Fugro’s global director of climate and nature.
