JW Fishers MC-2HD Mini Camera Enhances Water Recovery Operations for Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office
The Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office has bolstered its capabilities for water recovery operations with the acquisition of JW Fishers Manufacturing’s MC-2HD mini camera. This cutting-edge device is now a vital tool for the department’s Underwater Search and Recovery Team (USRT).
Designed for versatility, the MC-2HD mini camera can be easily mounted on Kirby Morgan helmets or used with an optional handle and LED light attachment. Its high-definition camera allows divers to explore underwater environments while transmitting live video feed to the surface team, providing real-time guidance and support during operations.
The USRT plays a crucial role in all water recovery operations in Washtenaw County, including retrieving drowned individuals and recovering evidence or property from waterways. Additionally, the team actively participates in community water safety initiatives.
According to Joel Gebauer, WCSO Sergeant and Team Commander, “Our team relies on various electronic tools for evidence search operations, and the addition of the MC-2HD camera has been immensely beneficial. We have successfully used the camera in both training exercises and actual evidence searches, receiving positive feedback from our divers.”
Gebauer further explains, “The live video feed allows topside support to monitor the diver’s perspective in real-time, aiding in the search for evidence. Divers appreciate the integrated dive light, which can be dimmed to prevent oversaturation in murky conditions, enhancing visibility during searches.”
