GTT, CSLNG, and CHI Sign Strategic Cooperation Agreement for Multi-Gas Vessels Development

French engineering firm Gaztransport & Technigaz (GTT), COSCO Shipping LNG Investment (Shanghai) (CSLNG), and COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry (CHI) have recently announced the signing of a strategic cooperation agreement for the development of multi-gas vessels.

The agreement between the three parties encompasses a wide range of areas including LNG Carriers (LNGCs), Ultra Large ethane carriers (ULECs), Very Large Ethane Carriers (VLECs), Floating Liquefied Natural Gas (FLNGs), as well as LNG and ammonia as fuel solutions for Very Large Crude Carriers (VLCCs).

One of the primary objectives of this collaboration is to deepen the partnership between the technical divisions of the companies to promote the use of GTT’s membrane technology in the specified fields. The agreement also emphasizes the importance of innovation, the development of new projects, and the support of educational training for young talents in the LNG sector.

This marks the first agreement between GTT and CSLNG, a company specializing in LNG transportation project investment, shipbuilding, and management. Additionally, GTT and CHI, a significant heavy industry enterprise with expertise in shipbuilding and offshore engineering, had previously signed a cooperation agreement in 2018, focusing on newbuilding, maintenance, and retrofits of LNG carriers and LNG-fueled ships.

Adnan Ezzarhouni, General Manager of GTT China, expressed his pride in the strategic cooperation, stating, “This partnership not only strengthens the bond between ship-owners, shipyards, and GTT but also sets the stage for delivering innovative and efficient solutions to meet the evolving needs of the energy industry.”

Qin Jiong, Vice General Manager of COSCO SHIPPING Energy Transportation and Chairman of CSLNG, shared his enthusiasm for the partnership, saying, “We are excited to collaborate with GTT in the development of multi-gas vessels. By leveraging the strengths of CSLNG, CHI, and GTT, we aim to create cutting-edge products and services that provide maximum value to all our stakeholders.”

The strategic cooperation agreement between GTT, CSLNG, and CHI signals a significant step towards advancing the development of multi-gas vessels and enhancing the capabilities of the LNG industry. With a focus on innovation and collaboration, the partnership is poised to drive the industry forward and deliver sustainable solutions for the future.
