Exail and Elwave Collaborate to Enhance ROV Capabilities with Advanced Electromagnetic Sensing Technology

Exail has chosen Elwave’s cutting-edge electromagnetic sensing technology to equip its R7 Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs) for a confidential client. This partnership will see the integration of Elwave’s Tetrapulse sensors, powered by the innovative CEDAR (Controlled Electric Detection And Ranging) technology, into multiple R7 ROVs.

The utilization of electromagnetic sensing technology offers a significant advantage in subaquatic electrical resistivity mapping, particularly in target identification and neutralization missions. Gary Bagot, Sales Director at Elwave, highlights that the integration of CEDAR technology enhances operational performance in challenging environments, including turbid waters. The R7 ROVs equipped with Elwave’s Tetrapulse sensors will enhance the detection, localization, and characterization of various underwater and buried targets, such as steel, aluminum, and fiberglass composites.

The R7 ROV is a compact and versatile solution for underwater operations, blending the maneuverability of a mini-ROV with the capabilities of an observation-class system. Its modular design supports a range of sensors, tools, and payloads, making it ideal for underwater security missions like hazardous terrain navigation, UXO detection, and disposal operations. Nicolas Astruc, ROV Managing Director at Exail, emphasizes that the integration of CEDAR technology into the R7 ROV strengthens operational effectiveness for underwater exploration, defense, and security applications. This collaboration between Exail and Elwave combines expertise in maritime robotics and electromagnetic sensing technology to provide customers with a powerful tool for operations in complex environments.

Overall, the collaboration between Exail and Elwave signifies a significant advancement in ROV capabilities, offering enhanced target detection and operational efficiency in underwater missions. The integration of Elwave’s Tetrapulse sensors with CEDAR technology into the R7 ROV underscores a commitment to innovation and excellence in the field of maritime robotics.
