James Fisher and Sons Launches New Legal Entity in Japan

James Fisher and Sons, a leading provider of specialist services to the energy, marine, and defense industries, has announced the establishment of a new legal entity in Japan. This move underscores the company’s strong commitment to the Japanese market and its growing presence in North East Asia.

The decision to expand operations in Japan aligns with James Fisher’s strategy to offer its integrated services and solutions to support Japan’s energy transition, maritime security, and defense requirements. The company already has a strategic partnership in place for the offshore wind service sector, including a Joint Collaboration Agreement with Tokyo Gas Engineering Solutions (TGES).

With a workforce of over 200 employees spread across 12 locations in the Asia Pacific region and a global presence in more than 25 countries, James Fisher is well-positioned to leverage its regional and international expertise to assist Japan in achieving its industrial objectives.

“Japan’s ambitious plans for modernization are driving demand for advanced maritime technology, defense capabilities, and renewable energy solutions,” stated Jean Vernet, CEO of James Fisher and Sons. “With targets such as 10 GW of offshore wind capacity by 2030 and a planned increase in defense spending to 2% of GDP by 2027, Japan is making significant investments in these key areas.”

Vernet added, “James Fisher’s specialized knowledge presents us with a unique opportunity to support Japan’s evolving requirements. Our ongoing commitment to the Japanese market will evolve in tandem with the country’s strategic goals, enabling us to play a vital role in shaping its national agenda while offering a global perspective on complex challenges.”
