ABL Group Awarded Contract for BP Tangguh UCC Project in Indonesia
Energy and marine consultancy ABL, a subsidiary of ABL Group, has been awarded a contract to provide marine warranty survey (MWS) services to BP’s Tangguh UCC project in Indonesia. The project, located in Papua Barat Province, Indonesia, includes the Ubadari field development, enhanced gas recovery through carbon capture, utilization, and storage (EGR/CCUS), and onshore compression operated by bp.
The Tangguh UCC Project
The Tangguh UCC Project aims to be the first CCUS project developed at scale in Indonesia, with the potential to sequester around 15 million tonnes of CO2 from Tangguh’s emissions in its initial phase. P.T. JGC Indonesia has been contracted by BP as the onshore engineering, procurement, construction, and installation (EPCI) contractor for the project, responsible for installing the onshore compression facilities at the Tangguh LNG Plant.
ABL’s Role
P.T. JGC Indonesia has contracted ABL to provide Marine Warranty Survey Services to support their scope of work for the Tangguh UCC Project. ABL’s operations in Indonesia will manage the project’s scope of work, including the technical review of project documentation, drawings, and calculations related to the transportation of warranted cargoes.
ABL will also oversee the suitability surveys of the proposed transportation fleet for these cargoes and provide on-site attendances for the RoRo and LoLo operations, loadout, transportation, and discharge of modules from Indonesian fabrication facilities to the Tangguh site.
CEO’s Statement
Reuben Segal, CEO of ABL Group, expressed his excitement about the project, stating, “This project combines ABL’s market-leading reputation in marine warranty survey with our expertise in key energy transition technologies. We are proud to support JGC and BP in this initiative to help Indonesia meet its energy demand.”
Segal highlighted ABL’s long-standing legacy in the Indonesian marine and energy sectors, as well as its global recognition for supporting clients in complex large-scale projects.
Overall, ABL’s involvement in the Tangguh UCC Project underscores its commitment to driving energy transition and sustainability in Indonesia and beyond.
