NYU Tandon School of Engineering Announces 2025 Offshore Wind Innovation Hub Accelerator Cohort

In an exciting collaboration with Equinor, National Offshore Wind R&D Consortium (NOWRDC), and New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC), NYU Tandon School of Engineering has revealed the six companies selected for the 2025 annual cohort. These innovative companies will receive support to further develop their ideas and propel the potential of offshore wind in New York.

Focus Areas and Selection Criteria

The selection process involved evaluating 53 applicants based on the novelty and potential of their solutions. Among the key focus areas were innovations contributing to efficiencies in turbine maintenance and enhanced marine life monitoring.

Offshore Wind Innovation Hub

Launched in January 2023, the Offshore Wind Innovation Hub is a collaborative effort led by Equinor in partnership with Urban Future Lab at NYU Tandon and NOWRDC. With strong support from NYCEDC, the hub aims to drive innovation and progress in the offshore wind sector.

2025 Cohort Companies

The selected companies for the 2025 Offshore Wind Innovation Hub Accelerator Cohort include:

  1. Anemo Robotics (Copenhagen, Denmark) — Autonomous underwater monitoring solution for marine biodiversity assessment.
  2. Kalypso Offshore Energy (Delaware, USA) — Specialized modular subsea cable repair and maintenance kit.
  3. MESPAC (Turin, Italy) — Intelligence platform for metocean data powered by satellites and AI.
  4. Orpheus Ocean (Massachusetts, USA) — Lightweight Autonomous Underwater Vehicle for seafloor data collection.
  5. Reblade (Aarhus, Denmark) — Drone-based robotics tools for wind turbine blade repair.
  6. Werover (London, UK) — Real-time monitoring of wind turbine blades using acoustic sensors and AI.

Business Development Program

The cohort companies will undergo a six-month mentoring and business development program residency to prepare them for strategic partnerships within the offshore wind industry. The goal is to help these innovators overcome barriers to adoption and successfully commercialize their solutions in New York and beyond.

Previous Cohort Success

The 2024 cohort companies achieved significant milestones in business and product development. Notable highlights include Triton Anchor’s fundraise, Claviate’s contract with Siemens Onshore, and Pliant Energy Systems’ pilot deployments in NYC waters.

Industry Deployment and Support

The Offshore Wind Innovation Hub, based in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, aims to facilitate technology transfer to the offshore wind industry. Cohort companies will receive mentorship from Equinor, industry-specific guidance from NOWRDC, and support from NYCEDC in piloting and innovation activities.

“This cohort comes in at a critical time in the US offshore wind industry, with real opportunities for innovation to make an impact. The technologies developed by these companies aim to lower costs, enhance supply chain opportunities, and improve safety in offshore wind development,” said Lyndie Hice-Dunton, Executive Director at NOWRDC.

Join the Innovation Showcase

Don’t miss the opportunity to meet the cohort companies and learn about their innovations at the Wind-Win Startup Showdown event on September 4, 2025, in New York City. Register now to be part of this exciting event!
