AI Tech Firm Fennex Secures Multi-Year Contract with EnQuest
Aberdeen-based artificial intelligence (AI) technology player Fennex has recently announced a significant milestone by winning a multi-year contract with EnQuest, a prominent energy firm listed on the London Stock Exchange. This partnership allows Fennex to deploy its AI-powered safety management solution across EnQuest’s operated UK offshore assets and its oil and gas terminal in the Shetland Islands, Scotland.
This long-term collaboration has empowered EnQuest’s assets with Fennex’s innovative Behavioural Based Safety Solution (BBSS). Described as a cloud-based AI-powered predictive safety management system, BBSS has the capability to transform real-time safety observation data into actionable intelligence, enabling managers to proactively anticipate and mitigate potential incidents.
Adrian Brown, Managing Director at Fennex, expressed his enthusiasm about the deployment of BBSS, stating, “BBSS is being implemented across all of EnQuest’s UK operated offshore assets, and notably, it is also in operation at its Sullom Voe Terminal – one of the largest oil terminals in Europe. The swift rollout of our safety solution within just eight weeks showcases the efficiency and effectiveness of our technology.”
The Fennex BBSS digital platform, utilized by over 42,000 end-users across various offshore projects globally, has recorded over 3.5 million safety observations. Fennex asserts that this solution empowers organizations to drive proactive interventions and cultivate a safety-centric culture where risks are identified and addressed promptly.
Ian McKimmie, Director of HSE and Wells at EnQuest, highlighted the significance of BBSS in enhancing operational safety, stating, “We recognized BBSS as an opportunity to revolutionize operational safety by simplifying and enhancing personnel participation and leveraging leading data for effective decision-making. The platform provides us with real-time visibility into safety reporting and data, enabling us to take immediate action for optimal operational outcomes.”
EnQuest, with assets both within and outside the UK, recently expanded its portfolio by securing blocks in Indonesia and acquiring Harbour Energy’s Vietnam business. The company is also exploring a potential business merger with Serica Energy to create a combined entity with a market capitalization of nearly $1 billion.
