Aker BP Completes Installation of Valhall Platform Jacket
Norwegian oil and gas company Aker BP has successfully completed the installation of a jacket for a new production platform at the Valhall field in the Southern North Sea. This milestone was achieved with the support of Allseas’ Pioneering Spirit and Heerema Marine Contractors’ Sleipnir, two of the largest offshore vessels in the world.
The installation of the Valhall production and wellhead platform (PWP) jacket follows the removal of an old production and compression platform (PCP). Aker BP shared the news on social media, emphasizing the significance of this achievement.
According to Aker BP, the completion of the jacket installation marks the beginning of a new chapter at Valhall, with plans to continue production for another 40 years. The company is committed to delivering energy through safe and efficient operations, with a focus on reducing production emissions intensity.
Valhall Field and PWP-Fenris Development Project
The Valhall oil field has been in production since 1982, and the Valhall PWP-Fenris development project aims to extend the field’s life for an additional 40 years. Situated in the Southern North Sea, this project is one of the largest development initiatives on the Norwegian shelf, featuring a new centrally located PWP and an unmanned installation.
The project is expected to develop approximately 230 million barrels of oil equivalent in new reserves, with production scheduled to commence in 2027. Pandion Energy is the partner in Valhall, while PGNiG Upstream Norway is the partner in Fenris, located 50 kilometers away.
With the successful installation of the Valhall platform jacket, Aker BP is poised to play a key role in the continued production and development of the field, contributing to the energy industry’s growth and sustainability.
