Turkish Boatbuilder Bering Yachts Centralizes Aluminium Work at Bulgaria Shipyard

Turkish boatbuilder Bering Yachts is consolidating all aluminium work for its expedition catamarans and superstructure production to its Bulgarian shipyard, covering models from the Bering Marine 50 to the Bering Catamaran 80.

Bering Yachts is known as a manufacturer of steel and aluminium exploration vessels from 20-50 metres, as well as fully custom aluminium catamarans. The company employs over 200 craftsmen at its shipbuilding facility in Antalya, Turkey.

The catamarans’ superstructures are constructed from aluminium, a material chosen for its strength and low weight, enhancing vessel performance in marine environments. To standardise production and improve efficiency, aluminium work has been centralised at the Bulgaria facility to minimise manufacturing variability and ensure consistent quality. Bering Yachts is also collaborating with Northern European suppliers for prefabricated aluminium components.

The Bulgarian shipyard has the capacity to build up to 16 boats ranging from 18 to 24 meters in length. For larger vessels, only the superstructures are fabricated in Bulgaria, with the hulls constructed in Antalya.

The first keel of the inaugural Bering-built liveaboard transatlantic catamaran, showcased as a model at the 2024 Palm Beach International Boat Show, was laid down at Bering Yachts’ Antalya shipyard in April 2024.

Smaller boats now undergo full-cycle production at the Bulgarian site, while engineering and project management remain based in Antalya. Once production, technology, and drawings are finalised, components are transferred to the Bulgarian facility, with completed superstructures subsequently shipped to Antalya for assembly with their hulls. Bering emphasizes that this approach aims to streamline production while upholding design consistency and quality control across all models.
