The title of the biggest U.S. cable-laying ship goes to the CS Global Sentinel, designed for long-range, deep-sea cable laying and repairs for both government and commercial projects.

The ship was built by the Far East Shipbuilding Industries in Singapore and was launched on October 12, 1990.

It was completed in 1991 for Transoceanic Cable Ship Co. Inc., a subsidiary of AT&T, a U.S. telecommunications company.

The first voyage of the biggest U.S. cable layer was in February 1992. The ship sailed from the shipyard to Honolulu and began operations.

The ship was part of the company’s efforts to expand and modernise its fleet for the global telecommunications infrastructure.

CS Global Sentinel has a sister ship, the CS Global Mariner, which shares its specifications.

The biggest cable-laying ship of the U.S has an LOA of 145.66 m and a beam of 28 m. It has a deadweight tonnage of 8527 and a gross tonnage of 13,201.

It can accommodate up to 138 personnel and has an endurance of up to 60 days.

Its propulsion system includes a diesel-electric system with 3 Wartsila engines and 4 thrusters for precise manoeuvring.

The ship is also equipped with a remotely operated vehicle and a sea plow for cable laying and burial operations.

The biggest U.S cable-laying ship has been involved in several undersea cable installations in challenging environments. It is known for its advanced capabilities and a long service record.
