Offshore Drilling Company, Borr Drilling, Secures New Rig Contracts

Offshore jackup rig player Borr Drilling has recently announced new rig deals in its latest fleet status report. Let’s take a closer look at the details of these contracts:

The 2018-built rig Skald has landed a contract with oil and gas company Medco Energy for operations in Thailand. The rig is scheduled to commence work in October 2025, with the contract set to run until April 2026.

Currently stationed offshore Thailand and working for PTTEP, the Skald will transition to its new contract after completing its current obligations by next month.

Another rig, the 2013-built Ran, has secured an extension with Eni, an Italian energy company. Originally deployed in Mexico for Eni since May 2024, the contract was supposed to conclude in October 2025 but has now been extended until January 2026, with further extension options until the end of 2026.

In a strategic move, the Norve rig, designated for an 11-month contract with an undisclosed operator in West Africa, will be replaced by the 2018-built Natt. The Natt rig is currently serving Eni in Congo and will transition to the new contract after completing its current obligations next month. The commencement of operations is estimated to begin in November 2026, with an end date in September 2027.

While the financial specifics of these contracts remain undisclosed, Borr Drilling continues to expand its presence in the offshore drilling sector through strategic partnerships and contract extensions. The company’s proactive approach to securing new deals underscores its commitment to providing efficient and reliable drilling services to its clients.
