Boskalis to Salvage Stena Immaculate Tanker Following Collision

Dutch Marine Provider Boskalis to Salvage U.S.-Flagged Tanker Stena Immaculate

Dutch marine provider Boskalis has been tasked with salvaging the U.S.-flagged tanker Stena Immaculate, which was involved in a collision with a container ship off northeast England on Monday. A spokesperson from Boskalis confirmed the news on Tuesday, following earlier reports in Dutch media.

Although a specific time frame for the salvaging operation was not provided, the spokesperson mentioned that four ships carrying foam and extinguishing agents were already en route to the scene to extinguish the fire resulting from the collision.

Regarding the other vessel involved in the incident, the container ship Solong, Boskalis stated that another company would be responsible for its salvage operations. However, the spokesperson did not disclose the name of the company in question.

The Stena Immaculate was at anchor when it was struck by the smaller container ship Solong, causing damage to its cargo tank and resulting in a fuel leak into the sea.
