Singapore Shipyard Seatrium to Partner with BP for Second FPU Project in US Gulf of Mexico

Singapore shipyard group Seatrium has recently announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding with energy giant BP for a second floating production unit project in the US Gulf of Mexico.

The project, known as the Tiber project, is located approximately 480 km southwest of New Orleans in the Keathley Canyon area of the Gulf of Mexico. The Tiber project holds significant potential, with an estimated resource capacity of 9 billion barrels of oil and gas across five discoveries.

Under the terms of the agreement, Seatrium will be responsible for the engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning of the FPU for the Tiber project. The contract award is contingent upon BP’s final investment decision, which is expected later in 2025.

Seatrium and BP are currently collaborating on the Kaskida FPU project, which received final investment approval in 2024. The Kaskida field is situated in close proximity to the Tiber project, approximately 80 km away.

Lessons learned and technological advancements from the Kaskida project will be applied to the Tiber project. Seatrium’s topside single-lift integration methodology will also be utilized for the Tiber FPU project, streamlining the construction process.
