Briggs Marine Welcomes New Maintenance Support Vessel, MV Forth Constructor
Briggs Marine has recently acquired a new addition to its fleet, the MV Forth Constructor, a maintenance support vessel built by Freire Shipyard in Spain. This 40-meter DP2 vessel, designed by Cintranaval in collaboration with Freire Shipyard, will enhance Briggs Marine’s capabilities for contracts with the U.K. Government, Port and Harbour Authorities, as well as the offshore wind and renewables sector.
The primary function of the Forth Constructor will be the servicing of heavy moorings and navigation marks. However, the vessel is also well-equipped to perform a variety of offshore support tasks, including diving and ROV operations, seabed investigations, surveys, offshore wind support, and inshore cable laying.
Equipped with a DP2 position-keeping capability and diesel-electric propulsion, the MV Forth Constructor offers improved fuel efficiency and technical resilience. The vessel’s deck outfit is designed for maximum crew safety, ensuring continued service in challenging conditions. With accommodation for six crew members and up to 10 project members, the vessel is well-suited for a range of operations.
One of the notable features of the MV Forth Constructor is the demountable Crew Transfer Vessel (CTV) boarding ladder, which enhances its ability to support offshore wind farm projects. Additionally, the vessel is equipped with an active heave-compensated crane, a generous moonpool, a demountable A-frame, four-point mooring capability, and a dedicated survey/project office, providing flexibility and adaptability for various clients.
