Cadeler Receives New Vessel Wind Keeper and Secures Vestas Contract
Denmark-based offshore wind vessel player Cadeler has exciting news as they announce the early delivery of their new jackup vessel, Wind Keeper, and the acquisition of a lucrative long-term contract with turbine maker Vestas.
The vessel, previously owned by China’s Shanghai Boqiang Heavy Industry Group, was swiftly renamed Wind Keeper after its acquisition by Cadeler earlier this year.
The €210m ($245m) contract with Vestas spans three years from early 2026, with additional optional extensions totaling 2.5 years. The potential value of the contract could exceed €380m if all extensions are exercised.
Wind Keeper is set to play a crucial role in supporting both transport and installation (T&I) as well as operations and maintenance (O&M) activities across Vestas’ current and future offshore wind projects in Europe.
Prior to commencing operations, Wind Keeper will undergo necessary upgrades in Europe to meet Cadeler’s fleet standards. These upgrades include seafastening for Vestas V236-15.0 MW turbines and other modifications to accommodate 15 MW-class installations.
“This first contract for Wind Keeper perfectly aligns with our strategic vision for acquiring the vessel. The demand for high-performance vessels that can handle both O&M and installation tasks is on the rise in Europe, and Wind Keeper fits this profile impeccably,” said Cadeler CEO Mikkel Gleerup.
With this new addition, Cadeler now boasts a fleet of eight vessels, with four more newbuilds currently under construction.
