CEVA Logistics Launches Low-Carbon Ocean Freight Service from France to Ivory Coast

CEVA Logistics, a subsidiary of French shipping group CMA CGM, has introduced a new environmentally friendly ocean freight service connecting France and Ivory Coast. By utilizing marine biofuel, the company aims to achieve an impressive 84% reduction in CO2 emissions compared to traditional ocean freight.

The weekly Less Than Container Load (LCL) service will link the cities of Rouen, Marseille, Lyon, and Abidjan, addressing the need for reliable and sustainable transport solutions between the two regions. With a transit time of 24 days, this service is open to all types of cargo.

CEVA Logistics’ commitment to sustainability is evident in its use of marine biofuel for this new service, significantly lowering carbon emissions along the France-Ivory Coast route. This initiative is part of the CEVA FORPLANET suite, launched in 2024 to provide eco-friendly logistics options such as sustainable aviation fuel and alternative fuels for road transport.

In 2024 alone, CEVA Logistics managed to save over 26,000 tons of CO2 emissions by incorporating sustainable fuels into its operations, demonstrating a strong dedication to environmental responsibility.

Paul Bernard, Managing Director for West Africa and Overseas Territories at CEVA Logistics, commented on the launch of the low-carbon ocean freight service, stating, “CEVA’s new low-carbon ocean freight service from France to Ivory Coast exemplifies our commitment to innovation and sustainability in logistics. By expanding our range of environmentally friendly solutions, we aim to support our customers’ supply chains while reducing our impact on the planet. This new LCL route to Abidjan reinforces our dedication to providing sustainable options in global maritime trade.”
