Bunker Service Provider CPN Conducts Largest B24 Biofuel Delivery in Hong Kong
Bunker service provider Chimbusco Pan Nation CPN has conducted the largest single B24 biofuel delivery in Hong Kong.
This milestone operation took place on February 19, 2025, when CPN supplied 5,500 MT of B24 low sulfur fuel oil (LSFO) to vessel XIN Los Angeles, a containership operated by COSCO Shipping. The operation also marked the largest biofuel delivery among all Chinese ports, CPN said.
Since 2021, CPN has established a dedicated task force to conduct research on alternative fuels, including marine biofuel, aimed at contributing to a more sustainable shipping industry. In 2024, the company reported supplying more than 44,000 metric tons of biofuels in Hong Kong, accounting for over 96% of the market share.
CPN continues to lead in sustainable fuel initiatives, recently delivering ISCC-EU-certified B24 marine biofuel to Royal Caribbean’s Celebrity Solstice cruise ship in Hong Kong. In August last year, CPN provided biofuel to Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL) for its first biofuel bunkering operation in Hong Kong.
The marine fuel supplier also collaborated with Swire Shipping on a sustainable B24 biofuel trial on Swire’s transpacific service. In addition to biofuels, CPN is exploring other alternative marine fuel options, partnering with Hong Kong and China Gas Company (Towngas) to develop green methanol marine fuel markets domestically and internationally, promoting Hong Kong as a green marine fuel center.
