Tragic Incident Aboard Tidewater Vessel Leaves Crew Member Dead

A fatal incident has shaken the maritime industry as news broke of a crew member’s untimely death aboard a Tidewater vessel, a subcontractor of Equinor. The tragic event unfolded on June 2, 2025, aboard the Polaris platform supply vessel (PSV) while it was operating in the Atlantic Ocean.

Despite prompt emergency response efforts by the crew and relevant agencies, the crew member succumbed to the incident. Tidewater, in collaboration with the United States Coast Guard, has initiated a thorough investigation to uncover the root cause of the tragedy.

Priority on Safety and Support

Confirming their commitment to crew safety, Tidewater emphasized their unwavering support for the investigative process. In a heartfelt statement, the company expressed condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues impacted by the loss.

Molly Morris, Equinor Renewables Americas’ senior vice president, echoed similar sentiments, acknowledging the gravity of the marine accident and extending deepest sympathies to those affected.

Transparency in Investigation

While details surrounding the incident remain undisclosed by the involved parties, the focus remains on understanding the circumstances that led to the crew member’s tragic demise. Both Tidewater and Equinor have pledged full cooperation with authorities to ensure a comprehensive investigation.

As the industry grapples with the somber aftermath of the incident, the collective thoughts and prayers of maritime stakeholders go out to the bereaved family and the broader maritime community.

For further updates on the ongoing investigation and any developments in the case, stay tuned for official statements from Tidewater and Equinor.
