CSignum Secures £6 Million in Series A Funding to Revolutionize Underwater IoT Communications

CSignum, a trailblazer in wireless technology for underwater IoT communications, has successfully closed a £6 million Series A funding round. This significant investment will propel the growth of its EM-2 product line, setting a new standard for transmitting critical sensor data from submerged environments to above-ground networks.

The funding round was led by prominent investors including Archangels, Par Equity, Scottish Enterprise, British Business Investment (BBI), Raptor Group, Deep Future, and SeaAhead’s Blue Angel Network. Notable individual US investors also participated in this round, underscoring the widespread support for CSignum’s innovative solutions.

Revolutionizing Wireless Data Transmission

CSignum’s EM-2 solutions utilize patented electromagnetic field signalling (EMFS) to transmit data through diverse environments such as water, ice, soil, rock, and concrete. This groundbreaking technology unlocks new possibilities for real-time data transmission in underwater and underground applications, a feat previously unattainable by conventional wireless methods.

Key applications for CSignum’s EM-2 systems include water quality monitoring, environmental assessments, wireless under-ship monitoring, and security solutions for critical underwater infrastructure like offshore wind turbines and oil and gas platforms.

Expanding Global Presence and Product Development

With this latest funding injection, CSignum is poised to expand its global footprint, accelerate product development, and cater to the escalating demand for reliable wireless communication solutions in challenging environments.

Additionally, the company offers CSignum Cloud, a suite of data services that complement its wireless systems. These services include a user-friendly dashboard and advanced analytics, successfully deployed in various river water quality monitoring projects.

Seizing Opportunities in the Underwater Communications Market

The underwater communications market is projected to double in size, reaching $10.2 billion by 2032 from $5.1 billion in 2024. CSignum’s strategic focus on advancing underwater IoT communications positions the company to capitalize on this burgeoning market opportunity.
