Damen Shiprepair and Alfa Laval Benelux Partner to Enhance Energy Efficiency in Maritime Industry
Damen Shiprepair, part of Dutch shipbuilding giant Damen Shipyards Group, and Alfa Laval Benelux, part of Swedish marine technology company Alfa Laval, have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to intensify their cooperation on energy efficiency in the maritime industry.
The collaboration aims to identify opportunities for sustainability improvements during the quotation and project phases of ship maintenance and refit. By leveraging Damen’s experience in these areas with Alfa Laval’s energy-saving technologies, the companies seek to make decarbonization upgrades a seamless part of regular drydockings.

By integrating Alfa Laval’s solutions into our existing workflow, we create a smooth, efficient path for clients to make meaningful changes – without needing extra downtime.”
The partnership includes joint customer visits and shared events, with both companies having a significant overlap in their customer base, laying a strong foundation for impactful results.

Recent Developments
In recent news, Damen Shipyards Group completed the retrofit of four bulk carriers for BAM Shipping, integrating efficiency-boosting technologies to lower fuel consumption and emissions. Additionally, Damen secured a contract to build new tugs for Fairplay Towage and agreed to deliver an all-electric Damen RSD-E Tug 2513 to Noatum Maritime in the UAE.
On the other hand, Alfa Laval secured its first contract for an ammonia fuel supply system onboard seven ammonia dual-fuel LPG/ammonia carriers owned by Tianjin Southwest Maritime (TSM). The company also announced the acquisition of NRG Marine, a UK-based provider of ultrasonic anti-fouling solutions for various industries.
