DeepOcean Signs Charter Contract for High-Spec Subsea Vessel Orient Adventurer

Ocean services provider DeepOcean has recently announced the signing of a charter contract for the high-spec subsea vessel Orient Adventurer. This new addition to their fleet aligns perfectly with the company’s service offerings and subsea capabilities in both the offshore renewables and conventional energy sectors across multiple regions.

DeepOcean has entered into a charter agreement with Dong Fang Offshore (DFO) for the Orient Adventurer, which will be part of their fleet from early 2026 until the end of 2027, with options for extension for up to four additional years. The vessel will be utilized globally for offshore wind operations and maintenance (O&M), installation, high-end inspection, maintenance, and repair (IMR), as well as construction and recycling of offshore oil and gas infrastructure.

The Orient Adventurer, previously known as Polar Onyx, is currently engaged in an offshore wind contract in Southeast Asia, showcasing its strong track record in the renewable energy sector. With extensive experience in conventional energy markets from the North Sea to Brazil, the vessel is equipped with a 250-tonnes crane and a vertical lay system (VLS) with a capacity of 275 tonnes, setting it apart from other similar vessels in the industry.

DeepOcean plans to outfit the Orient Adventurer with two remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) in hangars, with the option to install an underdeck carousel capable of carrying and installing power cables. CEO of DeepOcean, Øyvind Mikaelsen, expressed his excitement about reuniting with this high-quality subsea asset, highlighting its versatility and advanced equipment that make it a perfect match for their subsea capabilities, allowing them to operate globally.
