DeepOcean Expands ROV Fleet with Modern Electric Technology

Ocean services provider DeepOcean has made a significant investment in expanding its fleet of remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) by adding eight new units to its existing fleet. This move marks a step forward in the adoption of modern electric ROV technology and will support more sustainable subsea operations in the future.

New Additions to the Fleet

Three new ROVs have already been delivered, with the remaining five units scheduled for delivery over the next four years. Additionally, there are 13 more units available as options, further enhancing DeepOcean’s capabilities in subsea operations.

“Our operating model is built on engineering, project management, proprietary technology, an extensive subsea tool pool, ROVs, and a versatile subsea fleet. The ROVs are crucial in our operations, serving as our eyes and hands on the seabed,” said Øyvind Mikaelsen, CEO of DeepOcean.

Collaboration and Innovation

DeepOcean has partnered with Kystdesign for the delivery of seven ROVs, with two units already delivered. The collaboration also includes the delivery of electric work class ROVs and observation ROVs, showcasing a commitment to innovation and sustainability in subsea operations.

The first electric work class ROV, capable of operating down to 1,500 meters water depth, was recently delivered and will be installed on the USV Challenger. This fully electric WROV with hydraulic capabilities will enhance DeepOcean’s ability to perform a wide range of subsea operations.

Expansion Plans

DeepOcean has also taken delivery of Constructor-series WROVs from Kystdesign, with additional units scheduled for delivery in the coming years. With the recent acquisition of Shelf Subsea, DeepOcean now boasts an ROV fleet of approximately 60 units across various regions, supporting activities in inspection, maintenance, construction, survey, and asset removal.
