DeepOcean Extends Charter Agreements with Østensjø Rederi for Three Subsea Vessels

Ocean services provider DeepOcean has solidified its subsea capabilities with the recent extension of its charter agreements with Østensjø Rederi for three key vessels. This strategic move underscores DeepOcean’s commitment to enhancing its offerings in the subsea sector.

Extension of Charter Agreements

DeepOcean has secured the continuation of its most advanced subsea vessel, Edda Freya, as part of its fleet until 2026, with additional options for further extensions. Additionally, the existing contracts for Edda Flora and Edda Fauna have been extended through 2026 and 2027 respectively, with additional options available for all three vessels.

The partnership between DeepOcean and Østensjø Rederi dates back to the inception of DeepOcean, highlighting the strong relationship between the two companies. Since their delivery from the shipyards, all three vessels have been under contract with DeepOcean.

Enhanced Subsea Capabilities

With the recent agreement to charter the subsea vessel Orient Adventurer, DeepOcean is now equipped to undertake more comprehensive work scopes using two high-spec vessels equipped with vertical lay systems (VLS). This expansion further strengthens DeepOcean’s range of subsea services, encompassing survey, construction, and recycling, while solidifying its leading position in inspection, maintenance, and repair (IMR) operations.

Øyvind Mikaelsen, CEO of DeepOcean, expressed his enthusiasm for the extended charter agreements, stating, “This agreement, in conjunction with our enduring partnership with Østensjø Rederi, highlights our dedication to advancing our expertise to energy operators worldwide.”

Vessel Profiles

Edda Freya, designed in collaboration with DeepOcean and delivered in 2016, is a hybrid-powered construction vessel optimized for global operations. Its capabilities span offshore construction, intricate maintenance and repair tasks, and cable laying for offshore renewable projects, thanks to its under-deck carousel.

Edda Flora, DeepOcean’s flagship subsea survey vessel, boasts a proven track record for global operations. Meanwhile, Edda Fauna specializes in providing IMR services in the challenging environments of the North Sea.

With these extended charter agreements and the addition of the Orient Adventurer, DeepOcean is poised to elevate its subsea operations to new heights, offering clients a comprehensive suite of services backed by cutting-edge vessels and expertise.
