DeepOcean Secures Subsea Survey Contract for Bałtyk 2 and 3 Offshore Wind Developments

DeepOcean, a leading ocean services provider, has recently announced the successful acquisition of a subsea survey contract for the Bałtyk 2 and 3 offshore wind developments in Poland. These projects are a collaboration between Equinor and Polenergia, two prominent energy companies in the region.

The scope of the contract involves conducting geophysical seabed surveys of the export and inter-array cable seabed corridors using a specialized survey remotely operated vehicle (SROV). Additionally, DeepOcean will be responsible for mapping the seabed for potential unexploded ordnances (UXO), with Polish company MEWO serving as a subcontractor for this specific task using the vessel Amber Cecilia.

The survey campaigns are scheduled to take place in early 2025, showcasing DeepOcean’s commitment to delivering high-quality services in a timely manner. The company’s flagship survey vessel, Edda Flora, will be mobilized for the main scope of work, along with the Superior SROV.

With a total combined capacity of 1.44 GW, the Bałtyk 2 and 3 offshore wind developments are expected to power over two million households once operational. This joint venture between Equinor and Polenergia represents a significant milestone in the renewable energy sector.

Efficiency and Expertise

Øyvind Mikaelsen, CEO of DeepOcean, expressed confidence in the project’s success, stating that the use of a dedicated survey ROV will result in significant efficiency gains compared to traditional methods. By leveraging cutting-edge technology and expertise, DeepOcean aims to support Equinor and Polenergia in achieving their goals for these crucial offshore wind projects.

Overall, the subsea survey contract for the Bałtyk 2 and 3 offshore wind developments underscores DeepOcean’s commitment to innovation, efficiency, and excellence in the field of ocean services. With a strong track record of delivering successful projects, the company continues to play a vital role in advancing sustainable energy solutions.
