CRIST S.A. Holds Keel Laying Ceremony for DOF Group’s Offshore Support Vessel

Polish shipbuilder CRIST S.A. recently marked a significant milestone in the construction of an offshore support vessel for Norwegian company DOF Group with a keel laying ceremony for the vessel named the Sea Dragon.

The event took place on May 13, 2025, at CRIST’s shipyard in Gdynia, where the hull number NB110 of the 110-meter long DP3 ice-class vessel was laid. The Sea Dragon will have the capacity to accommodate 164 individuals and will serve various functions including down staffing, crew change, drilling support, safety standby, emergency towing, and ice management.

Expected to be delivered by the first quarter of 2027, the vessel is based on the MMC 995L SBC design from MMC Ship Design & Marine Consulting.

CRIST has emphasized that the Sea Dragon will be equipped with state-of-the-art systems to ensure safe and precise operations even in challenging sea conditions. This includes Walk2Work and DP3 dynamic positioning technology from Kongsberg Maritime.

The construction journey began with a steel-cutting ceremony in January 2025. Subsequently, CRIST placed orders with various suppliers for the vessel’s components, such as MAN and Palfinger Marine, demonstrating a commitment to quality and efficiency in the build process.
