Drydocks World Expands South Yard for Global Marine and Offshore Wind Projects

Drydocks World, a key player in the DP World Group, has recently unveiled its state-of-the-art 75,000 sq m South Yard expansion, signaling a significant enhancement in fabrication capabilities for complex marine and offshore wind energy projects on a global scale.

This expansion marks a 40% increase in fabrication capacity and a 25% increase in overall yard capacity, positioning Drydocks World to handle multiple large-scale projects simultaneously.

One of the standout features of the new South Yard is its impressive load-out jetty, the largest in the Middle East and Africa, designed to support structures weighing up to 37,000 tonnes.

Equipped with cutting-edge technologies such as robotic profile-cutting machines, automated CNC systems, and a heavy-duty rolling machine, the facility is primed for handling intricate industrial projects with precision and efficiency.

With a daily capacity to host up to 3,000 workers, the South Yard is tailored for executing a diverse range of projects, including the conversion of FPSOs, construction of offshore platform topsides, and the development of HVAC and HVDC converter platforms for the burgeoning offshore wind energy sector.

Looking ahead, the addition of a 5,000-tonne sheerleg floating crane by 2026 will further bolster the yard’s capability to tackle large-scale and complex endeavors.

Emphasizing its commitment to sustainability, Drydocks World has ensured that the South Yard operates entirely on clean energy sourced from the Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park. This strategic move not only reduces the facility’s carbon footprint but also underscores its adherence to stringent international environmental standards.
