Artemis Technologies Showcases Electric Crew Transfer Vessel at Aberdeen Offshore Wind Farm
Artemis Technologies has recently displayed its latest electric crew transfer vessel (E-CTV) at Vattenfall’s Aberdeen offshore wind farm, in collaboration with Vattenfall, Tidal Transit, Lloyd’s Register, and the Offshore Renewable Energy (ORE) Catapult. This technical demonstration of a dual propulsion, 100% electric Artemis EF-12 CTV at an operational offshore wind farm signifies a significant milestone, showcasing years of research, design, and development.
Vattenfall, a prominent European energy company, along with ORE Catapult, facilitated the demonstration and access to the Aberdeen offshore wind farm. Tidal Transit, experts in electrified offshore wind farm access, provided operational expertise for the CTV. The Artemis 12-passenger eFoiler CTV demonstration project is partially funded by the U.K. Government through the U.K. Shipping Office for Reducing Emissions (UK SHORE) program in the Department for Transport.
The successful completion of this demonstration underscores the importance of cross-industry collaboration in addressing the evolving needs of offshore wind operations. As the offshore wind sector continues to expand, partnerships like this are crucial in supporting the development and adoption of cutting-edge maritime technologies.
CEO of Artemis Technologies, Iain Percy, emphasized the company’s commitment to developing technology that contributes to the decarbonization of the maritime industry. The technical demonstration provided a platform to test the capabilities of the dual propulsion Artemis EF-12 CTV, including its performance in various sea and weather conditions and critical bollard push maneuvers to showcase stability, efficiency, and performance.
“Facilitating this demonstration was a vital step in supporting the decarbonization of wind farm operations. At Vattenfall, we are always eager to endorse new technology aimed at reducing the environmental impact of our work while enhancing operational efficiency,” added Kenneth Henriksen, Product Manager of Vattenfall.
Overall, the successful demonstration of the Artemis electric crew transfer vessel at the Aberdeen offshore wind farm highlights the industry’s shift towards sustainable and efficient maritime solutions. With continued collaboration and innovation, the offshore wind sector is poised to further reduce its environmental footprint and enhance operational effectiveness.
