Three Norway-Based Offshore Energy Providers Collaborate on New Construction Support Vessel

Three prominent Norway-based offshore energy vessel and service providers, Eidesvik, Agalas, and Reach Subsea, have joined forces to build a cutting-edge construction support vessel (CSV) tailored for subsea and offshore wind operations. The vessel’s ownership structure will see two-thirds owned by an entity controlled by Eidesvik and Agalas, with the remaining one-third owned by Reach Subsea.

State-of-the-Art Features

The new construction support vessel will share similar specifications with the CSV currently under construction by Eidesvik and Agalas at the Sefine Shipyard in Turkey. The upcoming vessel will incorporate a battery hybrid system and dual-fuel generator sets capable of running on either methanol or marine gas oil (MGO). Scheduled for completion in spring 2027, the vessel will offer enhanced operational efficiency and environmental sustainability.

Strategic Charter Agreement

Upon delivery, the CSV will commence a five-year charter contract with Reach Subsea, with provisions for two one-year extension options. Eidesvik will oversee the vessel’s full management, including crewing responsibilities. Notably, Eidesvik already co-owns vessels with both Reach Subsea and Agalas, showcasing a history of successful collaborations within the industry.

Optimized Design for Versatile Operations

Designed by NSK Ship Design, the new CSV will boast an impressive length of 99.9 meters, a breadth of 21 meters, and accommodation for up to 100 personnel. Equipped with a 150-tonne heave-compensated crane and a spacious deck area of approximately 900 square meters, the vessel is primed for a wide range of subsea operations.

Additionally, the CSV will feature a cutting-edge remotely operated vehicle (ROV) launch and recovery system (LARS) and will be tailored for deep-water seabed survey operations. This versatility aligns with Eidesvik’s strategic vision to capture market opportunities in both the oil & gas and offshore renewables sectors.

“This vessel is designed to meet the demands of both the oil & gas sector and the offshore renewables industry, allowing us to capitalize on market opportunities in both these sectors,” stated Helga Cotgrove, the CEO of Eidesvik Offshore, underscoring the vessel’s versatility and potential impact on the industry.
